Concrete Cost Calculator
Estimate the total cost of concrete for slabs, patios, sidewalks, driveways and small construction projects.
This concrete cost calculator turns your project's length, width and thickness into a full cost breakdown — concrete volume, material cost, waste allowance, delivery fee, labor cost and tax — so you know the total estimated project cost before the truck shows up. Enter your dimensions, your supplier's price per cubic yard (or cubic meter), and any optional delivery, labor and tax figures to get an instant, itemized estimate.

How to Use the Concrete Cost Calculator
- 1Choose Imperial or Metric measurements.
- 2Enter the project length, width and concrete thickness/depth.
- 3Enter your concrete price per cubic yard (or cubic meter for metric).
- 4Set a waste percentage — 10% is typical for straightforward rectangular slabs.
- 5Optionally add a delivery fee, labor cost and tax percentage.
- 6Read your results instantly: volume, material cost, waste, and total estimated project cost.
Example Calculation
Say you're pouring a 20 ft x 10 ft driveway slab at 6 inches thick, with concrete priced at $150 per cubic yard, a 10% waste allowance, a $75 delivery fee, $400 in labor, and 7% sales tax. Volume = 20 × 10 × (6 ÷ 12) = 100 cubic feet = 3.70 cubic yards. Concrete cost before waste = 3.70 × $150 = $555. Waste amount = 3.70 × 10% = 0.37 yd³ = $55.50. Concrete cost with waste = $610.50. Adding the $75 delivery fee and $400 labor gives a subtotal of $1,085.50. Tax at 7% = $76.19, for a total estimated project cost of about $1,161.69.
Accuracy & Assumptions
- Results are estimates only and are meant for planning purposes.
- Concrete pricing, delivery fees, labor rates and tax rates vary significantly by region and supplier.
- Consider ordering an additional 5–10% extra concrete for spillage and uneven subgrade.
- Verify all project measurements before requesting a final supplier quote.
- Check local building codes and consult a contractor for structural or load-bearing pours.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the total concrete cost calculated?
We calculate the concrete volume from your length, width and thickness, multiply it by your price per cubic yard (or cubic meter), add a waste percentage, then add any delivery fee, labor cost and tax to arrive at a total estimated project cost.
What concrete price should I enter?
Enter the price your ready-mix supplier quotes per cubic yard (Imperial) or per cubic meter (Metric). Ready-mix pricing varies by region, mix strength, order size and delivery distance, so a local quote will give the most accurate result.
Why does the calculator add a waste percentage?
Concrete pours rarely use exactly the calculated volume due to subgrade irregularities, spillage and over-excavation. A 10% waste allowance is typical for straightforward slabs; irregular shapes may need more.
Are delivery fees and labor cost always included?
No — both are optional. Ready-mix suppliers often charge a delivery/short-load fee below a minimum order, and labor cost depends on whether you are pouring the slab yourself or hiring a contractor. Enter $0 to exclude either.
Does this calculator include sales tax?
Tax is optional and applied to the subtotal (concrete cost with waste, plus delivery and labor) at the percentage you enter. Local tax rates on construction materials and labor vary by state and municipality.
